Obama, Charlottesville, Fake Media, Debt Ceiling, McConnell, James Clapper: Subjects that Trump tweeted about directly or indirectly so far today.
But one celestial event eclipses all. Trump looked up at the solar eclipse, when the rest of the world knew better.
Then he gave a dishonest campaign-style speech in Phoenix, AZ on Tuesday that eclipsed his statesman-like speech on Afghanistan Monday.
At the rally, he threatened a U.S. government shutdown if ‘The Wall’ wasn’t accounted for in the budget. Except, said wall is not a realistic one-step solution on the 2000 miles of terrain that make up the U.S.-Mexican border. (Learn more at: http://bit.ly/2w1Ns0S.)
Don Lemon, CNN reporter, called Trump out in an unscripted retort, calling Trump’s Phoenix speech a “total eclipse of the truth,” going on to say it was “embarrassing” and “unhinged.”
Trump blamed the media for misrepresenting his true feelings about #Charlottesville. POTUS recalls speaking about unity, peace, love in the moments following violent protests, counter-protests and the death of 32-year-old Heather Heyer. As if to eclipse his own views, Trump in the same speech, mentions the pardoning of Sheriff Joe Arpaio for racial profiling. Mr. Lemon like the rest of us wondered about this alternate reality.
